BRANFORD, CT — Two people and a dog escaped without injury in a Wednesday night garage fire with an extension to a Windmill Hill Road home, according to the Branford Fire Department.

It was just after 6 p.m. when Branford firefighters responded to the working fire, which was "brought under control quickly but required extensive overhaul to fully extinguish," fire officials shared on Facebook. First responders also noted that "Medic 3 handled two separate medical emergencies" during the call.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Branford Fire Chief Thomas Mahoney said.
