8 Branford Firefighters Honored For Actions During Main Street Fire

The actions taken by firefighters during the April 28 fire on Main Street potentially saved three lives, the Fire Department said.

Eight members of the Branford Professional Firefighters Association were awarded unit citations Thursday evening for their actions at a fire on Main Street on April 28.

Two women and a man were rescued by a ground ladder from the third floor of the 674 Main St. house at around 4 a.m. the day of the fire.

Another crew was stretching and operating a hose line to keep the fire under control, while waiting for more resources to arrive on scene, Branford Firefighters wrote on Facebook.

“Those three citizens are alive and uninjured today because of the coordinated and professionally executed actions of these men,” Branford Professional Firefighters Local 2533 wrote on Facebook. “Strong work, gentlemen.”
