The town of Branford Human Resources Department is currently recruiting for the position of: Part-Time Crossing Guard, Department of Police Services. 
 
Essential Functions: Stop traffic to allow children and pedestrians to cross busy street intersections.  Uniforms and training provided. The position has flexible hours.   

Qualification Requirements: Must be able to work a flexible schedule weekly.  The ability to follow oral and written instructions, the ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public and to follow safety and security guidelines and policies.  Be on time and dependable. Maintain an awareness of present or potential traffic hazards in the area surrounding assigned crossings. High School Graduate or GED equivalent.  A combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work. 
 
Selection Process:  Applications will be accepted until September 6th. Application considered with interview. The Town of Branford reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be considered for the position. The files of all qualified candidates will be maintained for a minimum of six months from the announcement date, and the qualified candidates will be considered for the same or similar positions which may become available during this timeframe.
 
All candidates not employed by the Town of Branford, prior to employment, must successfully pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test given at the Town's expense. The Town of Branford has implemented a policy of comprehensive background investigations for positions to be completed prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for candidates not already employed by the Town.  The investigation may be conducted as the last step prior to an offer.  Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate from further consideration.
