BRANFORD, CT - The Branford Chipotle restaurant wants to join the list of Chipotle’s across the country that serves liquor to its customers.

A sign outside Chipotle’s, located at 2 Commercial Parkway, says the establishment has applied for a liquor permit with the State Liquor Control Commission.

According to the internet, nearly half of Chipotle’s 2,000-plus locations serve alcohol, though alcohol isn’t a big money-maker for the chain.

It’s biggest booze seller shouldn’t surprise anyone - margaritas.

The Branford restaurant opened late last year at the home of a former Subway shop and other smaller shops, but Chipotle has taken over the entire location.

The new Chipotle includes a sit-down restaurant and outdoor patio. There also will no drive-through window.

The restaurant faces Commercial Parkway, rather than Route 1, which is where the old restaurants fronted.

There are 20 other Chipotle restaurants in Connecticut, including ones in nearby New Haven, Hamden, West Haven and Milford.
