Branford Democratic Representative Town Meeting Majority Sworn In, Elects Adelman As Leader

BRANFORD, CT — Branford officially began a new chapter last night as the newly elected Representative Town Meeting convened its first meeting of the term and formally swore in a 17–13 Democratic majority, the second Democratic majority in over a decade.
During the organizational meeting, District 4 Representative Dan Adelman was elected Majority Leader of the RTM.

Adelman, a longtime community advocate and chair of the Administrative Services Committee, emphasized collaboration, transparency, and broad participation as the guiding principles he will bring to the role.
"Branford voters made it clear they want a pragmatic, community-focused government that works for everyone," Adelman said following his election as RTM Majority Leader. "I’m honored to serve as Majority Leader, and I look forward to working respectfully and constructively with Democratic and Republican RTM members as we deliver on the priorities residents sent us here to accomplish."

The Democratic RTM caucus, elected across all seven RTM districts, ran on a platform focused on responsible budgeting, responsive constituent service, improving town infrastructure, supporting education, and ensuring Branford remains an inclusive and welcoming community.
"Branford Democrats earned a clear mandate this November, and last night’s swearing-in marks another step forward for accountable, community-driven leadership," Branford Democratic Town Committee Chair Kevin Coughlin said. "Dan Adelman is exactly the kind of steady, thoughtful majority leader Branford can rely on. He is someone who listens, brings people together, and leads with integrity. This caucus is ready to get to work for Branford families."
The new RTM will next take up committee assignments and begin deliberating on key issues affecting Branford’s budget, infrastructure, public services, and long-term planning.
