Branford Emergency Dispatcher Honored For Her 'Exemplary Performance' Handling 911 Call
With language barrier, limited information from a 911 caller reporting house fire, Cristina Sands' professionalism, quick action lauded.

BRANFORD, CT — Branford's fire and police departments recognized Telecommunicator Cristina Sands this week for her "exemplary performance" during a recent 911 call reporting a Montowese Street structure fire.
"Despite a language barrier and limited information, Cristina remained calm, and was able to gather critical details, and ensured emergency resources were dispatched without delay," it's noted in a Facebook post. "With only one call received for this incident, her professionalism and quick actions were vital to the success of the response."
Wednesday, Branford police joined firefighters in presenting Sands with a "Letter of Commendation in recognition of her dedication, skill, and commitment to public safety."
