Branford Firefighters Help Free Osprey from Sailboat Rigging
The osprey was stuck in rigging of a sailboat at Dutch Wharf Marina until Branford firefighters help get the osprey free.
BRANFORD - Branford firefighters helped Tuesday free an osprey that was stuck in the rigging of a sailboat.
Here is what happened, according to the firefighters’ Facebook page:
This morning EnCon officers responded to Dutch Wharf Marina in Branford to assist with an osprey that was stuck in the rigging of a land-stored sailboat.

Branford Fire Department assisted with Ladder 1 and were able to safely retrieve the Osprey along with rehabilitator Ed Haesche.
The bird was transported to the rehabilitation facility A Place Called Hope where it was assessed and determined that the Osprey had an injury to the right leg, but the outlook is hopeful for a full recovery.
