Higgins said he’s happy that “I invited more this year than last and think the turnout is going to be big. It’s a very emotional day. It’s a day that I would like to forget but I can’t.”
Higgins said he’s glad the event has grown in attendance, stating that when he first moved to Branford he was shocked that more people didn’t attend the ceremony.
First Selectman Jamie Cosgrove said the event will be held rain or shine - outside the firehouse if its nice; inside if not. He also thanked Higgins and Milici for coordinating. “We have an obligation to remember those who lost their lives,” the first selectman said.
Higgins said he even hoped to have a special guest at this year’s event - President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer - former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Higgins said he knows Giuliani. “I made one attempt to get him up here. I should have realized its a little too much for him to do these days.”
