Branford Man Embezzled $500K Worth Of Tools From Company: North Haven Police

The man is accused of embezzling more than $500,000 worth of tools from a company in North Haven, according to police.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A Branford man is accused of embezzling more than $500,000 worth of tools from a company in North Haven, according to police.

Police said North Haven detectives were notified in June by a “local medical-surgical manufacturing facility” regarding the embezzlement of tools valued at more than $500,000.

Jason Sabo, 37, of Branford, was identified as the suspect following a “comprehensive investigation,” according to police.

Police said the investigation found that during his employment, Sabo “misused his purchasing authority, and after a thorough review of evidence, detectives submitted an arrest warrant application, which was approved and signed by the court.”

Sabo was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree larceny, computer crimes, and tampering with physical evidence.

“The North Haven Police Department is committed to the investigation and apprehension of individuals involved in financial crimes,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We recognize the significant impact such offenses have on businesses and the community, and through diligent investigative efforts, we will hold suspects accountable.”
