Branford Police Chief Shares Recent Crime Trends/Observations

The Police Department had a busy month and here is a look at recent calls for service and recent crime trends.

BRANFORD, CT — During a June 9, Board of Police Commissioners meeting, Police Chief Jon Mulhern provided members with some department updates.

During the month of May, Mulhern noted that there was a "slight increase in Disorderly Conduct; two DUI’s; Mental Health calls are up; Domestic Disputes are steady; Family Violence is up and there were two drug overdoses," as noted in official meeting minutes.

Notable arrests include Anthony Esposito, charged with Murder and Murder with Special Circumstance, Mulhern said, according to meeting minutes. One burglary was reported at Dunkin' Donuts on Leetes Island Road, the chief reported. Traffic Enforcement was down a bit for May and there was a minor increase in motor vehicle accidents, the chief reported to the commission.
