Cops Won’t So Branford Resident Puts Up Own ‘Deer Crossing’ Sign
Branford Board of Police Commissioners didn't act on a request for a deer crossing sign - so a resident took matter into own hands.

BRANFORD, CT - The Board of Police Commissioners hasn't acted on a request to put a "Deer Crossing" sign up on the busy Featherbed Lane Road near the Middle School so a resident took the matter into his or her own hands and put a sign up themselves.
The "Deer Crossing" sign sits on the front lawn of the Featherbed Lane residence. Featherbed Lane is one of the busiest roads in towns and police often monitor the road for speeders as it is located less than a mile away from the Frances Walsh Middle School.
But it is also an area where residents who live in homes frequently see lots of deer - as there is wooded areas nearby.

At the most recent Board of Police Commissioners meeting, the commissioners discussed the fact that a
"Deer Crossing" sign had been requested - but took no action.
Instead, Police Chief Kevin Halloran said police would increase presence in the area and traffic enforcement. Police often run radar patrols in the area during the early morning hours about the time kids are being picked up for school.

In the meantime, the Featherbed Lane resident isn’t waiting for the police to take action. He or she is doing his or her own enforcement - by displaying the sign on the front lawn.
The sign asks drivers to observe the 25 mile per hour speed limit - not just for the kids, but for the deer, too.
