Branford Stone is the Base of the Statue of Liberty
A 6-ton slab of granite from Branford makes up the base of the Statue of Liberty.

The Beattie Quarry in Guilford can most famously be linked to the creation of the base of the Statue of Liberty, according to ConnecticutHistory.org.
John Beattie, founder of the Beattie Quarry and a Scottish immigrant, had bought 400 acres of land at Leetes Island in 1869, and included in the land was a large vein of granite that ran into the Stony Creek section of Branford, according to the website.
A 6-ton block of that granite became the base of the Statue of Liberty on August 5, 1884, the website said.
