Branford Surprises Allergist With Distinguished Service Award
Town officials surprised Dr. Gary Wanerka with an award at a local ceremony.

Branford, CT - The town of Branford surprised Branford resident and longtime pediatric allergist Dr. Gary Wanerka last month with a special town award.
At the opening of the new Branford Early Learning Center's playground on June 12, Wanerka received the Town of Branford Distinguished Service Award, Shore Publishing reports.
Wanerka is a longtime resident and has been practicing medicine for close to 50 years.

He told Shore Publishing he was completely surprised by the award.
“I was there with my family celebrating the opening of the playground, which was very nice. So it was very surprising, and very kind of [the Board] to make the presentation of the award.”

Wanerka, who spcializes in pediatric allergies, graduated from Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine and did his internship and residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, according to Yale New Haven Health.
