BRANFORD, CT —National Vietnam War Veterans Day recognizes veterans who served in the US military during the Vietnam War, and encourages the display of the U.S. flag each year on March 29. The last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam on March 29, 1973.

As noted by Walter Dymarczyk VFW Post 12106 in Branford, the "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" is "meant to commemorate the sacrifices of Vietnam Veterans and their families and to recognize those who were denied a proper welcome over 40 years ago."

Walter Dymarczyk VFW Post 12106 will be honoring Vietnam veterans at a breakfast April 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. for all Vietnam veterans at Parthenon Diner. The date was chosen as to avoid any conflicts with Good Friday, it was noted by the Post.
