Driver Crashes Into Bank, Causes Gas Leak In Branford: Fire Officials
A driver was hospitalized after crashing into a bank in Branford, according to officials.
BRANFORD, CT — A driver was hospitalized after crashing into the TD Bank Building on West Main Street in Branford early Tuesday morning, according to officials.
Crews responded to the building at 1003 West Main St. shortly after midnight on the report of a crash, according to a post on the Branford Fire Department’s Facebook page.
Officials said the incident commander requested additional units for an active gas leak. The vehicle had struck the gas meter, gas piping, and breached the interior of the building, according to officials.

“A water supply was established and hose lines stretched as precaution until the gas was able to be shut off,” officials wrote in the post.
The incident was placed under control at 1 a.m., according to officials.

The driver was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for evaluation, officials said.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
