East Shore District Health Department to Discuss Tick, Mosquito-Borne Diseases

The public is invited to join the discussion Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at the Willoughby-Wallace Library, located at 146 Thimble Island Rd.

Staff of the health department will discuss the changing landscape of diseases, such as Lyme Disease, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus and Zika. How they are spread? How much of these diseases are in Connecticut? How are they detected and treated?

There will be information on how to reduce these pests in an environmentally friendly way and how to protect oneself and one's family from the diseases these pests carry.
