BRANFORD, CT - It’s been a few days since Grammy-award winning singer, songwriter Ed Sheeran became the talk of Branford when he stopped in Tommy Sullivan’s for a Guinness but the commotion the celebrity’s appearance caused is still having an impact.
“It’s been a little bit crazy,” admitted Maeve Sullivan, owner of Tommy Sullivan’s, who only had a few minutes for a quick phone interview with Patch on Tuesday afternoon. “I’ve been giving lots of interviews - it’s kind of blown my mind.”

Sheeran came into Tommy’s late this past Friday night, along with his fiancée after a friend’s wedding.
“People recognized him right away,” said Sullivan. “He was so nice and polite. People did ask him for pictures which he was willing to do, again he was so nice. But people also left him alone to enjoy himself, have a drink at the bar, and be with his friends, too.”

Sullivan said she knew of Sheeran’s “more popular songs” like “Shape of You” and “Thinking Out Loud” - “but I really didn’t know a lot about his music. I’ve been looking into it more since he came by.”
After leaving Tommy's Sheeran left to prepare for his next performance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at PNC Stadium on Saturday.
Sheeran's Divide Tour runs through the end of August of 2019.
Sullivan said her regular customers still are talking about Sheeran’s visit and she didn’t expect the buzz over it to die down anytime soon.
“I think I’ve got a few more interviews still to do,” she added, apologizing for having to end her phone chat so quickly.
