Elderly Driver Goes Off Road, Winds Up In Pond Behind Fire Dept. HQ: BFD

Fire officials said the car narrowly missed a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk before coming to rest in a pond on the west side of FD HQ.

BRANFORD, CT — Monday afternoon, the Branford Fire Department reported that, "Crews were called into action just steps from our own front doors after a vehicle left the roadway in front of Fire Headquarters."

In a Facebook post, Branford fire officials also shared that the car "narrowly missed a pedestrian walking along the sidewalk before coming to rest in the pond on the west side of the building."

As they were right there, firefighters quickly responded and safely removed the elderly driver from the car, who was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said.

"Fortunately, no other injuries were reported," fire officials said.
