Hobson Avenue House Fire Quickly Knocked Down By Branford Firefighters Tuesday
Firefighters worked quickly to contain the first-floor blaze of a two-family home, while simultaneously searching for any occupants or pets.

BRANFORD, CT — Tuesday afternoon, shortly before 1 p.m., Branford's bravest and finest rushed to a Hopson Avenue home for a medical issue, and black smoke pouring out of the first floor of a two-family home.
First responders went to 4 Hopson Ave., with firefighters quickly starting to attack the fire.
According to Fire Chief Thomas Mahoney, the incident commander arrived on scene and "struck a working fire assignment as firefighters advanced hose lines and began an interior attack."

"Crews located the source of the fire—an apparent cooking fire that had extended to the cabinets and ceiling," it as noted in a news release the BFD posted to Facebook.
"Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze while simultaneously searching for any occupants or pets," it was noted. "The fire was successfully confined to the stove and surrounding area, preventing further damage to the structure."

Fire officials said, "All second-floor tenants were able to return to their residence, and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire."
The Guilford Fire Department was dispatched as the Rapid Intervention Team to support firefighter safety but was quickly returned, per the news release. The East Haven Fire Department provided station coverage. "Our thanks to both departments for their assistance," the fire department wrote.
All fire department units had cleared the scene in just over an hour after arrival, by 1:56 p.m.
Fire Marshal Robert Dobuzinsky is "working to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation at this time," per the department
"The Branford Fire Department commends the quick actions of all responding personnel, which prevented further damage and ensured the safety of the building’s occupants," the Facebook post reads.
