Obituary: Antonio “Tony” Romano, 75, of Branford

He enjoyed gardening, casino trips, cruises, dancing, and baking, cooking and he and his wife owned Grace's Kitchen Restaurant in Branford.

Antonio “Tony” Romano of Branford passed away on Tuesday April 9, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Grace Romano, and father to Raffaele (Amanda) Romano, and Sonia (Jorge) Crespo, and nonno to Yeilani, Emmarose, Luca, Ella, Carmelo, and Matteo. He is also survived by his brothers Aniello, Silverio, and Gino Romano, all of Ponza, Pompeo Romano of Branford and his sister Maria Vitiello of Ponza, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his baby angel Maria Romano, his brother Domenico Romano, and his sister Susanna Romano.

Tony was born August 18, 1948 in Ponza, Italy, a son of the late Raffaele and Anna Calisi Romano. He was a chef and owner, along with his wife, of Grace’s Kitchen Restaurant in Branford for many years. He enjoyed gardening, casino trips, cruises, dancing, and most of all cooking, baking and spending time with his grandchildren.

His funeral will leave the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Tuesday morning at 9:15 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
