Obituary: Eugene Russell “Russ” Reutenauer, 97, of Branford
A WWII veteran, American Legion Post 83 and Branford Elks Club BPOE 1939 member, he enjoyed bowling, gardening, golf, snowmobiling, travel.
Eugene Russell “Russ” Reutenauer of Branford died Thursday March 14, 2024 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband for 76 years to Alice Munson Reutenauer.
Russ was born in Hamden on July 23, 1926, a son of the late Robert and Grace Peckham Reutenauer. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of American Legion Post 83 in Branford and the Branford Elks Club BPOE 1939. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Branford for more than 65 years. He was a very active man who loved to bowl, play golf, work in his garden, enjoyed traveling and snowmobiling.

Besides Alice, he is survived by his children, Carol (Jerry) Johnson, Robert G. (Robin Mangs) Reutenauer, and Richard (Suzanne) Reutenauer; his grandchildren, Michael (Dana) Johnson, Eric (Kerry) Johnson, Russell (Maryellen) Johnson, Justin (Lauren) Reutenauer, Kyle (Anna) Reutenauer, and Kelsey Reutenauer, 9 great-grandchildren, and his sister Florence Bryant. He was predeceased by his brother George R. Reutenauer.
His family would like to thank Clara, his long-time home health aide and also the staff at CT Hospice for the care shown to Russ during his time there.

His services were held Tuesday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
