Obituary: Robert A. Ruggieri, 71, of Branford

Robert A. Ruggieri, 71, entered eternal rest Oct. 28, 2023. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Robert was born Jan. 21, 1952, in Montreal, Canada. He grew up in Branford and attended Branford Public Schools. Robert was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran having served in the 11th Infantry, Quang Tri Province of North Vietnam.

He is survived by his lifetime love and wife of 50 years; Gail (Vailette) Ruggieri; his children, Coreyann Ruggieri, Lana Ruggieri and Robert Henry Ruggieri. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored, Lexia Ruggieri and Michael Fox.

Robert loved to be outdoors and prided himself on his yard work. He enjoyed the simple solace of sitting outside basking in the warmth of the sunlight. He never missed his 3 o’clock coffee. Robert liked to fish, and he had a hobby of whittling his own smoking pipes. He was always up to date on current events as he never missed the daily news briefings and was quick to inform anyone what was going on in the world.

Robert was a charismatic, quick-witted soul, always ready to crack a joke and bring a smile to anyone in his presence. He will forever be missed by his family.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Rd, Branford. Interment will be private for family at Center Cemetery, Branford. Shoreline Cremation has been entrusted with his arrangements.
