Obituary: Ryann O’Keefe, 43, of Branford

Ryann, a true lover of the outdoors, worked for the Amtrak New Haven Terminal as a locomotive engineer for nearly 20 years.

BRANFORD, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Ryann O’Keefe, age 43 of Branford, passed away suddenly on September 30, 2021. Born on June 13, 1978, a daughter to Patrick M. & Deborah L. (Kinney) O’Keefe.

In addition to her parents, Ryann is survived by her son Gannon P. O’Keefe; brother James P. O’Keefe; nephews Kyle P. O’Keefe, Samuel Grestini and Trevor Admans; nieces Ashlynn D. O’Keefe & Alexis Admans; and grandfather William C. Kinney.

Ryann is predeceased by her grandparents Joseph E. & Marion D. O’Keefe and Lois Burr (Kinney) McDermott; as well as aunt Lisa L. Kinney.

Ryann was nearing 20 years of service with Amtrak, New Haven Terminal, where she worked as a locomotive engineer. A graduate of The Milford Academy, class of 1996, Ryann loved all things outdoors.

Her favored pastime was spent camping, fishing, and hiking with her nieces, nephews, along with all their friends, as they set out their various adventures.

Ryann enjoyed her numerous train excursions to The Big Apple and Bean Town.

Ryann will be eternally missed by all her many O’Keefe and Kinney relatives, as well as her cherished friends. As the locomotive conductors exclaim, “Here we go!”

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 6 from 4 – 8PM, at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 7 at 10 o’clock in Our Lady of Victory Church.

Interment will follow.
