Obituary: Shirley I. Demetre, 80, of Branford

Shirley I. Demetre of Branford died Tuesday December 19, 2023 at the Hospital of St. Raphael Campus at YNHH.

Wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and Gangy. She was the beloved wife of S. Gordon Demetre for 56 years. Shirley was born in Lackawanna, NY November 13, 1943, a daughter of the late John L. and Anna O’Neil Roberts. She was a registered nurse for many years.

Besides Gordon, Shirley is survived by her children, John Demetre of East Haven and Katherine (Mark) Swift of Branford and her most adored granddaughter and “partner in crime” Gwendolyn Swift. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Schreiber and her brother Kenneth Roberts, both of Eden, NY and was predeceased by siblings John, Ellen, Pat and Joan.

Funeral services and burial are private at the convenience of her family.
