Obituary: Timothy M. Stevens, 81, of Branford
Known for his hearty laugh, a passionate golfer, he served as Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club golf chair, house chair, and president.
Timothy M. Stevens of Branford passed away Wednesday May 1 at his home in Branford. He was the husband of Gayle Stevens. He was the father of Amy Stevens (Mark Scanlan0of Branford and Timothy Stevens Jr. (Lea) of Rye,N.Y. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tyler, Chase, and Sophie Stevens-Scanlan and Ellie and Trey Stevens. Tim was born in New Haven on January 13,1943. His parents were Frederick M. And Florence S .Prann.
After graduation and marriage, he joined the international Silver Company as the fifth generation in the Stevens family to work for this company. He ended his business career as the National Sales Manager for Oneida Silversmiths.

He attended the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT where he played football, baseball and basketball captaining an undefeated team in 1951. He then attended Southern Methodist University where he met his wife Gayle of 55 years.
They settled in Branford, CT where he was an active member of the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club serving as Golf Chairman, House Chairman, and President of the club. He was a passionate golfer and golf fan and played golf all over the U.S. and Europe with his son Chip.
His greatest passion was in spending time with his children and grandchildren and could be seen for decades at hockey rinks, dance recitals, soccer, football and baseball fields not to mention countless birthdays and graduations. He was a constant presence in the life of his five grandchildren.

He was known his entire life for his hearty laugh and his ability to make others feel like the most important person in the room.
Friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday at 4:00 at the First Congregational Church of Branford. Burial of his urn will follow in Branford Center Cemetery. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral home,244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Westminster School, 995 Hopmeadow St. Simsbury, CT 06070.
