Obituary: Walter E. Romblad Jr., 86, of Branford
An Air Force veteran, he was a VAMC medtech and a Parker Park groundskeeper for 20 years who looked forward to the Branford Fireworks.
Walter E. Romblad Jr., 86, a resident of Branford, CT, entered into rest on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in his home. He is survived by his devoted wife Barbara Romblad, and his 6 children, Eric Romblad (Barbara), Bethany Kinney (Dave Lenkowski), Lance Romblad (Sheri), Taylor Romblad, Savannah Romblad, and Dean Romblad, and his siblings Gary Romblad, Beverly Moran, Diane Dinges, and Wayne Romblad.
He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Walter was predeceased by his parents Walter and Violet Romblad, and his brother Kenny Romblad.
Walter was born on September 21, 1937 to Walter and Violet Romblad in Woonsocket, RI. Growing up, one of his passions was sports. He participated in boxing, basketball, bowling, swimming, baseball, and many more.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Med Tech for the VAMC in West Haven, CT. He also worked as a groundskeeper for Parker Park in Branford, CT for over 20 years. He loved preparing for and attending the Branford Fireworks with his friends and family. It was an annual tradition that he always looked forward to.
Walter enjoyed his annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach, SC with his buddies from Rhode Island. He was an avid golfer at the Alling Memorial Golf Club in New Haven, CT where he played for many years. He enjoyed watching all sports and proudly supported the Cleveland Browns every year. Walter also had a passion for buying and selling collectables which allowed him to have many summer tag sales.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Wednesday afternoon from 4-6 pm at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford, CT 06405 with a service being held at 5:45 PM.
