“Race For Chase” Culminates with Youth Triathlon August 6th

Branford, CT - The Soundview YMCA in conjunction with the Branford Recreation Department, Brian’s Hope, Sound Runner, Ct. Cycle Center and Zane’s Cycles are proud to announce their involvement in the “CMAK” (Chase Michael Anthony Kowalski) Foundation and the activities surrounding it.
In remembrance of Chase Kowalski, the students and educators of the Sandy Hook Tragedy, the agencies have inspired as a community to join forces and inspire community healing through family and children-focused initiatives and programs. By focusing on emotional healing and physical health and wellness, the agencies are striving to positively change the lives of children and their families thru a triathlon training program which will culminate on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the YMCA Camp Sloper , located at 1000 East Street in Southington, Connecticut.

The “Race 4 Chase” program which started on June 26th is a six week goal oriented summer program that provides the participants, ages 6-12 with expert instruction in swimming, cycling, running, strength training and flexibility. “Race 4 Chase” is teaching these young children the fundamentals of good nutrition, under the supportive guidance of coaches, lifeguards, and instructors. Implementing a custom-designed training program, the coaches have been providing the youth athletes with all the equipment, knowledge, and one-on-one support they need to become a tri-athlete like Chase. At the culmination of the training camp, all the youth athletes from 14 different YMCA’s across Connecticut will come together to compete in a USAT-sanctioned triathlon race.
The young-athletes program meets from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Walsh Intermediate School. Each day to day program consists of preparation, warm-up, stretching and transitions to each activity in the areas of swimming, biking and running.
