Woofstock On Despite Iffy Weather; Some Upset With Decision

Woofstock organizers said event would go on rain or shine; well it poured and many asked on social media for event to be postponed.

BRANFORD, CT - Woofstock, the all day festival to benefit the non-profit Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford is going on as scheduled today (Saturday).

Early Saturday morning it was pouring outside which caused some vendors to decide not to participate. The good news is the skies brightened - a bit - during the early afternoon and the event went on as scheduled for the rest of Saturday.

Organizers of the event had said the past several days that it would go on rain or shine but that didn’t stop many on Saturday morning from asking on social media whether the event would still be held.

Many criticized the decision on the Woofstock Facebook page to go on with the event and many of the vendors said they would not be participating - stating the conditions were too dangerous.

The photos that accompany this story were taken about 10:20 Saturday morning of the few people - and their dogs - getting ready for the Woofwalk - which went off as scheduled, and in the rain, at 11 a.m.
