21 People, 1 Pet Displaced By 2 Fires In Bridgeport; 1 Evacuated, Fire Officials Say

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A pair of fires Friday night in Bridgeport left a total of 21 people and one pet displaced, according to fire officials.

One person was evacuated by American Medical Response after the fire in the 1000 block of Capital Avenue, but whether that person suffered injuries was not disclosed.

That fire, which was mostly on the first floor of the building, was reported at about 6:30 p.m., and was extinguished in about 20 minutes. A total of eight adults, three children and one pet were displaced.

The second fire, in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue, was reported at about 9 p.m., and was doused in 10 minutes, according to authorities. No injuries were reported.

A total of nine adults and one child were displaced by the fire; in both the Capital Avenue and Lincoln Avenue fires, the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced in finding temporary housing.

The causes of both fires are under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal's Office.
