3-Alarm Fire Displaces 7 In Bridgeport: Fire Officials

The blaze occurred at a home on Cleveland Avenue, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A structure fire in the 30 block of Cleveland Avenue in Bridgeport on Wednesday required three alarms to extinguish, and has left five adults and two children temporarily displaced, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported in the 11:45 a.m. blaze, and the American Red Cross is assisting those displaced with finding temporary housing.

"Fire companies arrived to find heavy fire on the second and third floors in the rear of the home," wrote Danielle Wedderburn, the city's Director of Communications, in a statement. "The fire was quickly escalated to a second, then third alarm in order to bring the fire under control."

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal's Office.

Firefighters from the Fairfield and Stratford fire departments provided mutual aid station coverage while the blaze was being extinguished.
