6 Evacuated, 2 Injured In Building Fire In Bridgeport: Fire Officials

The apartment building fire was reported Tuesday afternoon.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two people suffered injuries that are not considered a threat to life on Tuesday in an apartment fire in the 3000 block of Main Street in Bridgeport, according to fire officials.

A total of six people, which included the injured two, had to be evacuated by American Medical Response through ground ladder window rescues, said Bridgeport Public Information Officer Shawnna White.

When firefighters arrived on-scene for the 4:30 p.m. fire, they found the blaze emanating from the second floor. The fire was fully extinguished in just over 30 minutes.

The American Red Cross is assisting eight families, who have been temporarily displaced by the fire.
