Accessible Artist-Designed Picnic Table To Be Installed In Bridgeport

The RiseUP Group, Inc. will host a dedication ceremony.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A new accessible and artist-designed picnic table will be unveiled at Claytor Academy on May 16 as part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting inclusion and public art throughout Bridgeport.

The RiseUP Group, Inc., in collaboration with the City of Bridgeport and the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation, will host a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. to mark the installation of the city’s first “Able Table.” The table is the first of five planned installations across the city.

Designed and painted by local artist Lori Bloom, the table features a 36-inch center access space compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, allowing use by individuals in wheelchairs or with mobility devices. The artwork was painted on polytab fabric and sealed for durability in outdoor settings.
