Bicyclist Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash In Bridgeport: Police

Bridgeport police are looking for a black Honda sedan in connection with the Monday night crash.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 34-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized in stable condition after being struck by a car Monday night on Chopsey Hill Road near the entrance to Route 8/25 north in Bridgeport, according to police.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m., and the car, a black Honda sedan, fled the scene after the collision, said Bridgeport Police Sgt. Darryl Wilson.

In addition to police, Bridgeport firefighters and American Medical Response were called to the scene.

"Upon arrival, a male pedestrian was observed lying in the intersection and appeared to be in critical condition," Wilson wrote in a statement. "The male received medical attention, and he was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The scene was secured, and the Bridgeport Serious Crash Investigation Team was requested and arrived on scene."

Police quickly learned that the pedestian had been on a bicycle when he was struck by the Honda.

"After a preliminary investigation, it was determined that a black Honda sedan was scene traveling west on Chopsey Hill Road and struck a male on a bicycle in the intersection of Chopsey Hill Road near the entrance of Route 8/25 north," Wilson wrote. "The black Honda sedan fled the scene traveling in the direction of Route 8/25 north."
