BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport Hospital has been certified by the Joint Commission as a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TSC).
Offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, achieving TSC Certification means a hospital meets rigorous standards for performing endovascular thrombectomy and providing post-procedural care. Recent studies have shown the efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy for large vessel occlusive ischemic strokes, according to the Joint Commission.

“As soon as a stroke occurs, brain cells start to die, which is why it is so important to act fast,” said Jennifer Reynolds, MSN, SCRN, stroke program manager at Bridgeport Hospital. “The quicker it is treated, the higher chance for little or no permanent damage. Patients are now able to get this advanced stroke treatment faster and closer to home, which translates to higher chances of doing well and possibly reducing disability after stroke.”
The achievement highlights the exceptional stroke care throughout the Yale New Haven Health System. Greenwich Hospital and Lawrence + Memorial Hospital are both recognized as Advanced Primary Stroke Centers by the Joint Commission.
