Bridgeport Police Officer Injured In Crash: Official

The crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport police officer was injured Wednesday when the officer's vehicle was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Westfield Avenue and Garden Drive in Bridgeport, according to the city's Public Information Officer Shawnna White.

The crash occurred at about 2 p.m., and the officer was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center for treatment for injuries that are not considered to be a threat to life.

White said that the driver of the other vehicle was arrested after attempting to flee the scene, but that person's identity, and the charges, were not immediately available.

Wednesday's crash is the second one involving a Bridgeport police officer in the past week. On Sunday, a suspected intoxicated driver was arrested after crashing head-on with a Bridgeport officer near Seaside Park.
