Bridgeport Public Library Launches Survey Seeking Community Input
The survey is intended to gather feedback on its services, programs and resources.
BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport Public Library is asking residents, visitors and patrons to help shape its future by taking part in a community survey open through Sept. 19.
Library officials said the survey is intended to gather feedback on the services, programs and resources that matter most to Bridgeport residents. Responses will help guide priorities for programs, resources and spaces across all library branches. The survey takes about five minutes to complete and responses are anonymous. It can be filled out online at bportlibrary.org/survey or on paper at any library location.
“This survey is about listening and being responsive,” City Librarian Elaine Braithwaite said in a statement. “Our libraries are the heart of the neighborhoods they serve, and input from patrons and residents will help us design programs, collections and spaces that reflect what matters.”

The survey follows community forums held earlier this year and will inform the library’s upcoming strategic plan, Braithwaite said.
The library is also marking National Library Card Sign-up Month in September, part of a nationwide campaign encouraging people to sign up for library cards. Bridgeport Public Library cards are free and provide access to books, e-books, audiobooks, movies, music, research databases, job-search tools, language-learning programs, public computers and Wi-Fi. The library has eliminated overdue fines.

“Getting a library card is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to invest in yourself,” Braithwaite said.
