Bridgeport Woman Killed In 1-Car Trumbull Crash: CT State Police

The crash occurred Friday morning on Route 8 in Trumbull.

Bridgeport resident Maria Nieves was killed Friday when the vehicle she was riding in crashed into a rock wall on Route 8 in Trumbull. The driver of the vehicle, Leonel Diaz, also of Bridgeport, was seriously injured in the crash.

TRUMBULL, CT — A 40-year-old Bridgeport woman has been identified as the person who was killed Friday in a one-car crash on Route 8 southbound in Trumbull, according to Connecticut State Police.

Maria Nieves was a passenger in a 2016 Mercedes-Benz, driven by 60-year-old Leonel Diaz, also of Bridgeport, when the crash occurred at about 11 a.m.

Diaz was also seriously injured in the crash when the vehicle veered into the grassy right shoulder and hit a rock wall.

The State Of Connecticut Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad is investigating the crash.
