Fresh Produce Available At Bridgeport Hospital This Summer
For the sixth year, the hospital is hosting a farm stand.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport Hospital will once again host a weekly farm stand this summer, offering fresh produce to the public in an effort to address food insecurity and promote access to healthy food.
The stand, supplied by Smith’s Acres farm, will be open on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. beginning July 10. It will be located outside the hospital at 200 Mill Hill Avenue and will run through October 30.
“The goal is to provide convenient access to fresh, healthy options for those in the neighborhood or visiting the hospital,” said Gina Smith, community health manager for the hospital’s Office of Health Equity and Community Impact.
The farm stand is open to the public, including hospital staff, patients and visitors. The first 35 customers each week will receive a $5 voucher to use toward the purchase of fruits and vegetables.
Payment options include cash, credit and debit cards, as well as benefits from the Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Programs and SNAP/EBT. Purchases made with SNAP/EBT will be matched dollar-for-dollar through a partnership with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative and the nonprofit End Hunger CT.
