Mayor Ganim Appoints Daniel Shamas as Chief of Staff
Shamas, has served the Bridgeport community for over 35 years; and succeeds Daniel Roach, as Chief of Staff.
From The Office of Mayor Joseph Ganim: Mayor Joseph Ganim today announced the appointment of Daniel Shamas as Chief of Staff. Shamas takes over for Daniel Roach who will be transferred to the position of Director of Construction Services.
“I am looking forward to the leadership Daniel will bring to our administration,” said Mayor Ganim. “Daniel played an instrumental role during my previous years as Mayor. He is someone who has over 35 years of experience serving the Bridgeport community and cares passionately for its residents.”
“I am proud to be back working for my community. This role is familiar to me and I understand the responsibility required to support the Mayor and the City of Bridgeport,” said Shamas.

Shamas previously served as Chief of Staff under the administration of Mayor Ganim from 1997 to 2000. Shamas also served as Acting Superintendent of Bridgeport Schools in 2000 before consulting for Brown University and Pearson Achievement Solutions. Shamas has over 40 years of education experience under his belt with 35 of those years devoted to the Bridgeport Public Schools. Shamas received a Master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Connecticut State University. He is a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
