Bridgeport Gang Member Sentenced In Federal Narcotics Case: U.S. Attorney (patch.com) — Bridgeport residents are learning more about a major federal narcotics case tied to gang activity on the city’s West Side, after a New Haven man was sentenced to five years in prison. Investigators from the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and Bridgeport police linked him to the 150 gang and drug trafficking involving fentanyl, heroin, crack, and other opioids. The case, which also involved a co-defendant who received a 12-year sentence, highlights ongoing efforts to curb violent drug networks in and around Bridgeport.

Bridgeport Board Of Education Selects Leadership Team (patch.com) — Bridgeport’s Board of Education has chosen its leadership team for the 2025 term, keeping Jennifer Perez as chair and Joseph Sokolovic as vice chair, and electing Maritza Estrada Jimenez as secretary. Interim Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery says the board will focus on collaboration, governance, and supporting Bridgeport Public Schools and the wider community in the year ahead.

Ganim campaign worker pleads guilty to absentee ballot fraud in 2019 Bridgeport primary (ctpost.com) — A Bridgeport political campaign worker has pleaded guilty to multiple absentee ballot-related charges tied to the 2019 Democratic mayoral primary, held at the Bridgeport Judicial District Courthouse. The case is part of a broader probe into alleged absentee ballot misuse in the 2019 and 2023 Bridgeport mayoral primaries that has led to charges against more than a dozen local political figures.
   

4. Bridgeport councilwoman sought council president's arrest for election night 'motor-boating': Records (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport residents may want to know that a city councilwoman’s request to have the then–City Council president arrested over an election night encounter at the Margaret C. Morton Government Center was rejected by the local state’s attorney. Prosecutors said the evidence, including video, could not prove a sexual assault charge beyond a reasonable doubt, while both officials now trade sharply conflicting accounts and hint at further complaints and public action.
   

5. CT native John Mayer shares tribute to dog Moose on Instagram: 'There isn't ever enough time' (trumbulltimes.com) — A fellow Bridgeport native, musician John Mayer, is mourning the loss of his longtime dog Moose, who died on December 5 after 14 years. In a heartfelt Instagram tribute, Mayer reflected on how Moose’s daily routines grounded him through a life of constant change and even inspired the cover of his 2013 album “Paradise Valley.”
