Pedestrian Critically Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash: Bridgeport PD

The crash occurred Friday at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and State Street Extension, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 44-year-old Bridgeport man was critically injured Friday when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and State Street Extension in Bridgeport, according to police. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and police are actively searching for the suspect.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 p.m.; Bridgeport firefighters, police officers and American Medical Response personnel were all dispatched to the scene to render aid.

"After a preliminary investigation, it was determined an unknown vehicle was traveling east on Fairfield Avenue and struck the male pedestrian in the intersection and fled the scene in an unknown direction," wrote Bridgeport Police Sgt. Darryl Wilson in a statement.

The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Investigation Team is investigating the crash, and is seeking to obtain video footage of the incident.
