News release from Six to Six Magnet School:
BRIDGEPORT, CT — This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Six to Six Magnet School Ballroom Dance Program, a beloved tradition that has inspired and enriched students since its founding in 2006 by Gabriella Takacs-Fabry, Carmen Fletcher, and Principal at the time Chris LaBelle. The program was created with a visionary goal: to introduce middle school students to the art and discipline of ballroom dance while fostering social interaction, mutual respect, and personal growth.
Each year, all eighth-grade students at Six to Six participate in this distinctive program, where they learn classic dances such as the waltz, tango, and swing. Beyond mastering choreography, students gain valuable lessons in poise, teamwork, and self-confidence that extend far beyond the dance floor. Throughout the year, participants take part in two competitions and a graduation dance, providing opportunities to showcase their learning and celebrate their progress.
