Statistics Show Drop In Crime In Bridgeport, Police Department Says

Data for Q3 2025 shows significant declines in violent crime in the city, according to authorities.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Overall crime in Bridgeport, particularly violent crime, dropped in Q3 2025, according to new statistics released this week by the Bridgeport Police Department.

"Compared to this time last year, overall Part I Crimes are down 30%," department officials wrote on Facebook. "Robberies have been reduced by half, aggravated assaults and burglaries are both down nearly 30%, and motor vehicle thefts have dropped more than 22%. Most notably, homicides are down 80% and shootings have declined by almost 35%, with fatal shooting victims down nearly 78%."

The department credits its "officers, community partners, and residents who work together every day to make Bridgeport safer," for the reduction in crime.

But officials know that there is still work to be done to continue to improve on those numbers.

"While progress has been made, we know there is more work to do, and we will continue striving toward our goal of reducing crime and ensuring safety for all," officials wrote.
