Weekly Farm Stand Opens At Bridgeport Hospital
Produce is supplied by Niantic-based Smith's Acres.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Bridgeport Hospital has opened a weekly farm stand aimed at improving access to fresh fruits and vegetables for local residents.
The stand, which launched this week, operates Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 200 Mill Hill Avenue and will remain open through Oct. 30. Produce is supplied by Smith’s Acres, a family-owned farm in Niantic.
Open to the public as well as hospital staff, patients and visitors, the farm stand offers an incentive to early shoppers: the first 35 customers each week receive a $5 voucher to use toward a produce purchase.

The stand accepts multiple forms of payment, including cash, credit and debit cards, senior and WIC farmers market benefits, and SNAP/EBT. Through a partnership with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative and End Hunger Connecticut!, SNAP/EBT benefits will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
The initiative is part of the hospital’s broader effort to promote community wellness and improve access to healthy food options.
