Bridgewater Land Trust To Hold Five-kilometer Race On New Trail
BRIDGEWATER – The Bridgewater Land Trust will sponsor a timed five-kilometer (3.1-mile) race this fall. The race will start and end on the new Tappen Brook Trails network at the Bridgewater Town Park on Lake Lillinonah located at the end of Tappen Road.
The race will be held on Sunday, September 29, at 9 a.m. The inclement weather date will be Sunday, October 6, at 9 a.m.
The event is open to runners of all ages and abilities. There is no entrance fee however participants can make a voluntary donation to the Bridgewater Land Trust to help with course maintenance costs. Runners can sign a hold harmless agreement upon arrival. Results will be posted at the Bridgewater Land Trust’s web site and will be distributed to local news outlets.
The 5K Course was recently completed and a test run was held on August 17. The course is considered of moderate difficulty and includes narrow and wider sections.
The land trust, established in 1987, is devoted to preserving natural and working lands in and around Bridgewater.
The organization wants to thank Scott Benjamin, the race director of the Roxbury Road Runners Club and the volunteers who will assist in timing the event.
