Brookfield Area Gas Prices Steady As Crude Surges, Connecticut Stations Remain Flat

Crude oil jumps over 10%, but strong US production keeps gas prices steady; Here are the Brookfield stations with the cheapest rates.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Northeastern gasoline prices have largely stabilized despite a surge in crude oil prices and a rebound in domestic fuel demand.

Crude oil prices climbed over 10 percent this week, rising above $70 per barrel—the highest level since March—following reports of renewed hostilities between Israel and Iran. Meanwhile, the Energy Information Administration reported an 11 percent jump in U.S. gasoline demand, reaching 9.17 million barrels per day, a notable increase from 8.2 million barrels the previous week and consistent with early‑June seasonal trends.

In Brookfield, the best price for a gallon of regular fuel is $2.89 at the Sunoco at 30 Federal Road. It's $2.94 at the BJs Wholesale at 106 Federal Road and the Costco at 200 Federal Road. At the CITGO at 177 Federal Road, motorists will pay $2.96. The update was posted Tuesday by shopping app GasBuddy.

Despite these upward pressures, strong domestic oil and gas production kept retail gasoline prices in check. U.S. refiners raised output for the second consecutive week, contributing to a 1.6‑million‑barrel build in gasoline inventories. Approximately 900,000 of those barrels went to the Northeast, lifting regional stocks to 59.4 million barrels—about 600,000 above the level recorded last year and nearing the five‑year average of 61.9 million barrels.

AAA Northeast’s June 16 survey showed Connecticut’s average price for a gallon of regular unleaded at $3.09—one cent higher than last week, unchanged over the past month, and 46 cents lower year‑over‑year. The national average clocked in at $3.14 per gallon, two cents above last week, 5 cents lower than last month, and 30 cents below the same date last year. Mississippi and Tennessee currently post the lowest prices in the U.S., while California and Hawaii remain the highest. Connecticut ranks 17th in fuel prices nationwide.

Lauren Fabrizi, spokesperson for AAA Northeast, noted, “Higher crude oil costs and stronger demand typically put upward pressure on gasoline prices, but the long‑term impact of the recent escalation of conflict in the Middle East remains to be seen. The potential for global supply disruptions can move crude prices higher, but continued near‑record domestic production of oil and gas can soften the short‑term impact on pump prices.”
