Brookfield Crews Tackle Early Morning Fire At Commercial Building

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brookfield Fire Marshals office.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield emergency services teams were called to evacuate people and extinguish a fire in a commercial building on Tuesday morning.

An alarm monitored at 840 Federal Road tripped at 6:23 a.m., bringing first responders from the Brookfield Police Department. They reported the building was full of smoke and occupants were being helped to leave.

The call was upgraded to a Structure Fire Response, bringing in crews from Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company and Water Witch Hose Company #2 of New Milford.

The first arriving firefighters extinguished a small blaze in and around an exterior air conditioning unit that had filled the building with smoke. The fire was stopped before it could spread to the main structure, or to neighboring buildings.

Crews remained on scene for approximately 90 minutes, according to a social media post from BVFC.
