Brookfield Fire Officials Warn Of Dry Conditions Following Grass Fire

BROOKFIELD, CT — Low humidity and strong winds continue to create a high-risk environment for outdoor burning, Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company fire officials warned on social media.

Crews tackled a grass fire on Cherry Lane on Sunday, aggravated by the dry conditions.

Camp and cooking fires should never be left unattended, fire officials said.

Permits to burn brush on residential property are not valid if the Forest Fire Danger is rated high, very high or extreme, and you are burning within 100 feet of a grassland or woodland.

The danger level in Brookfield and Fairfield County for Dec. 6 is Low.
