Brookfield Gets Grant to Help Catch Speeders
Federal grant will help Brookfield police enforce the town's speed limits.

Motorists who exceed the posted speed limit on Brookfield roads — beware.
Brookfield police are stepping up speed enforcement on many town roads through the use of enhanced and dedicated speed enforcement units funded through, and as a result of, the recent award of a Federal High Risk Rural Roads Speed Enforcement Grant administered and awarded by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT).
During the months of August and September, especially around Back to School time, dedicated patrols equipped with Laser Enforcement tools will be deployed on Brookfield roads to enforce speed limits.

The Brookfield Police Department is committed to the tactic of speed enforcement as a way to reduce roadway crashes due to high speeds. Many of these speed-related crashes result in serious injury and property damage and any effort to reduce their frequency and severity will benefit all motorists in town.
The $17,000 grant provides money to support officer overtime for targeted special enforcement, as well as the acquisition of speed enforcement equipment that will be used by Brookfield officers to catch speeders throughout the year.
