The Town of Brookfield recently started updating its Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). A POCD is an official, long-range planning document that provides policy guidance for future growth, development, zoning, land use, infrastructure, and services. Connecticut State statutes require municipalities to update their POCD every ten years to ensure the POCD reflects current demographics, planning efforts, and development context. Brookfield's POCD was last adopted in 2015 and amended in 2016.

Through the planning process, Brookfield aims to develop a strategic vision, goals, and an actionable agenda to guide land use review boards, elected officials, and the Town. The POCD will analyze existing conditions and trends, identify community resources and needs, and cover various topics, including land use, transportation, economic development, housing, infrastructure, and natural resources.
